The Division for Higher Education and Schools welcomes Mr. Robert Federwitz to the ministry position of Director for Schools.

The Evangelical Lutheran Education Association has been pleased to work with Bob Federwitz during the years he has served on its national board, currently as Vice President and representative of its largest network, the Lutheran Schools of Southern California and Hawaii. The Association, its national board, and its National Director for Resources, look forward to a continued relationship with Bob in this new capacity, and a continually growing, collaborative relationship with the ELCA Department for Schools.

When asked to share a few words with you, our readers, Mr. Federwitz responded as follows:

"It is truly an honor and a privilege to serve as Director for Schools of the ELCA.  As a young man attending college, training to be a teacher in our Lutheran schools full of eagerness and excitement to get into the classroom thinking that I knew it all, my father would always remind me that God calls us to be His servants.  ‘You are Called to serve others’, he would often say.  How true those words have been for God has truly blessed me with a wonderful ministry as a teacher, administrator, and regional director of our Lutheran schools - and for that I give Him thanks.  I pray God's continued blessing on my ministry as Director for Schools.
I look forward to working with the teachers and administrators of our Centers and Schools.  I am grateful for your commitment to serve in our schools where you have the great privilege to share God's love as you help each child to reach their greatest potential intellectually, emotionally, socially and spiritually.  I value you as partners in ministry and pray God's continued blessings as together we serve His children."

Bob and his wife, Ellie, are busy with the tasks of buying and selling homes, as well as the other pieces associated with this major move from Lomita, California to the Chicago area. We wish them all the best, and welcome Bob in this new capacity.
