Founders Grant
ELCA Department for Schools
One
of the most difficult areas of college graduation is that of
repayment of student loans incurred to help pay for a college
degree. In 1988 the Lutheran Day School Endowment Fund was
initiated as a way to both encourage Lutheran teachers to remain
in our schools and to help alleviate some of the financial
burden placed on new teachers by their student loans.
If your ELCA elementary or high
school has teachers who are in their first three years of
teaching ministry and have received their undergraduate degree
they may be eligible for nomination. The nominee must submit
evidence of the following to apply:
More than $1,000 in outstanding
school loans
Teaching effectiveness
Christian influence
Community impact
Remember that all some folks need
is your encouragement and desire to help them through the
process.
Recipients of the Founders Grant
will be notified by the beginning of May 2002. For more
information or to receive a letter detailing the nomination
process please contact Donna Braband at Dbraband@elca.org
or 800-638-3522 Extension 5074.
This grant is made possible so we
may continue to fulfill the great command of Matthew 28:19…Go
and make disciples of all nations…
