Especially for Special Needs Kids
Dr. Richard Herman, Vice President, Wheat Ridge

Who do you think of when you hear the term “special needs child?” Perhaps you think of a young child in rural China who is physically challenged. Or a child in Milwaukee has trouble reading due to dyslexia. Or a child from a troubled home who has trouble interacting with classmates. These children are among the many served by health and healing ministries in congregations and agencies who receive support through Wheat Ridge Ministries.

Perhaps, though, our vision of special needs children is too limited. After all, we know that every child is special. God has individually and uniquely created each of us. In His eyes, there is no such thing as a plain, ordinary, generic person. That’s great news!

We also know that all God’s children have needs. He calls us into relationships and into communities so that our daily needs of body, mind, and spirit can be addressed by serving, and being served by others.

Take some time today to celebrate the fact that you are, by God’s grace, a special needs child. Celebrate the unity that brings us all – red, yellow, black and white, physically challenged, emotionally distressed and spiritually tender – together as people who are precious in His sight.

Thank you for your prayerful support as Wheat Ridge Ministries continues to serve “special needs kids” of all ages around the world by seeding new ministries of health and hope, in the name of the healing Christ!
