Graceways—Christian Studies Curriculum
Donna Braband, ELCA Assistant Director for Schools

In the Fall of 2000 a number of our elementary and preschools were part of the review process for the new Graceways – Christian Studies Curriculum. I have talked with many administrators around the country who are very excited about using this new curriculum in the 2001-2002 school year. I thought you should see what some of the teachers and administrators who have used it said about it.

“A refreshing change from what we currently use.”

“Great activities to use in the classroom to keep students interested.”

“The program engaged the fifth and sixth graders in my classroom in good discussions. We looked at the disciples and found our information we may not have known before. We were able to ‘walk’ with the disciples as they followed Jesus. The students enjoyed the lessons as well as the activities. They were involved and wanting to learn more.”

“Teachers really liked the content. They noted that this curriculum ties Bible and stories to real life, i.e.: it was clear that Adam and Eve have something to do with today. One teacher stated that she heard children talking about religion class – not something previously experienced.”
