Accident Protection for
ChildCare and Pre-School Students—Is there coverage?
There are risks inherent in all
sorts of school activities, and the safest program will never
avoid all accidents and injuries. That is why it should be the
school’s responsibility to provide additional insurance
coverage for the students should an accident occur during a
school sponsored activity or event.
Here are some questions to ask
yourself as an administrator, board member or even as a parent
in an ELCA school - whether or not appropriate accident
insurance coverage currently exists should an accident occur at
a school sponsored event/activity:
- Does the school have any
obligation to make sure the medical bills are covered?
- Is there a gap in parents’
coverage due to deductibles or co-pay provisions?
- Is $5,000 per accident under
the liability policy sufficient?
- What if the parents do not
have insurance?
A $25,000 Student Accident Plan
has been designed for the ELCA and is available for $3.00 per
student. The premium includes a developmental fee that allows
the ELCA to pursue additional benefits and programs for it
members. For more information on Student Accident coverage,
