Membership
Membership in ELEA is open to:

ELCA congregations which operate a school or ECE center.

Schools and centers operated by an association of congregations with at least one being ELCA, an ELCA college, or an agency affiliated with ELCA.

Individuals who are current or former educators and support the purpose of ELEA but are not currently employed by an ELCA school or ECE center.

Associate membership is open to ELCA full communion partner schools and ECE centers that do not receive support services from their church body for its educational ministry."
ELEA's membership year is a full twelve months, regardless of when you join. Renewal notices are mailed approximately one month before memberships expire. A membership certificate, suitable for framing, is mailed upon receipt of the membership application and dues. In addition, there are several mailings per year to members, including a directory of members, pertinent materials regarding benefits, and useful resources.
Although memberships are accepted all through the year, membership directories will be printed to include all CURRENT members as of November 1 each year and distributed in January.
There are several exceptions regarding membership to be noted:

If you are currently employed at an ELCA school or center, you are not eligible to join as an individual (the school or center must join) unless it is an additional membership to the school/center membership;

Schools and centers in the metro New York area who are current members of LSA (Lutheran Schools Association) may join for one-half price as stated on the Membership Application;

Individual members are not eligible to participate in the ELEA Employee Benefits Plans, except individual life and disability policies for which there is no guaranteed issue.
