Group Medical Insurance
Our experience helping schools across the country has given us the ability to be able to work with any size group- and any size budget. We do not currently offer a national medical plan, but we will work with the carriers in your state to create a proposal that fits the needs of your school. There are many different types of medical plans out there, from hospital-only coverage to rich PPO’s, so don’t think that medical coverage is something that is completely out of your budget.
Some things to consider:
-
You must have at least two people who need coverage to qualify for group insurance.
-
Employers are required by law to contribute at least 50% of the employee premium. Insurance premiums vary greatly depending on region, type of plan, and age of employees, but as a rule of thumb expect your contributions for medical premiums to start at around $100-$200 per employee per month.
-
If your school is part of a church, find out if the school files taxes jointly with the church. Insurance companies require the participation of at least 75% of employees who do are not covered elsewhere. They check this participation by reviewing tax documents. If your school and church file taxes jointly, then the church employees will factor into this participation requirement.
The employer decides who to offer insurance to: either all employees working over 20 hours per week, over 30 hours per week, or 40 hours per week. Once you make this decision, all employees who meet this hourly minimum MUST be offered insurance. This applies for disability insurance as well.

Group Disability Insurance
Disability insurance is a wonderful benefit to provide for your employees, and it is one of the most affordable types of coverage available. Disability insurance protects your employees’ income in the event that they have a non work-related injury. Disability claims can come from many different situations: injuries, maternity leave, or extended sickness. In the event that your employee is not able to come to work they can rest assured that they will still have a paycheck coming in. This is a Voluntary benefit, can be paid for by the employer or the employee. Reliance Standard is the insurer, and the plan design and rates are OUTSTANDING!

Make sure you read your mail – during the Fall new Open Enrollment Materials will be mailed to you. Open enrollment month is NOVEMBER, meaning that all applications must be signed, dated, and returned during November. Coverage will begin on January 1. |

In today’s litigious society, any non-profit organization is at risk for lawsuits stemming from accidents and injuries. Here is a way to help reduce this risk. This policy will pay up to $500,000 for medical and dental bills. Included is a $10,000 death benefit. This is called a “full excess” policy, meaning if there is primary insurance, this policy will pay deductibles or co-pays. If there is no primary insurance, this will drop down and become the primary policy. There is no deductible. Call 1-866-899-8559 or email nancy@nbondinsurance.com for your application.
Retirement Savings Plan
Individuals may begin today their participation in the incredible retirement program available to non-profit organizations—the 403(b) plan. The American Funds* are providing the mutual fund program to assist each individual with their own retirement. This program does not require employer participation. Each employee may contribute 100% of their income, up to $15,500 in 2007 ($20,500 if age 50 or older). The only cost of the plan is $10 per year, paid by the participants.
